With StudioLine, you not only have the perfect software for managing and editing your photos, but also an integrated solution to design personalized scrapbook pages, greeting cards, invitations, thank-you notes, certificates, flyers, eCards – virtually anything that can be printed or sent via email.

The following samples show step-by-step how you can use StudioLine Photo to unleash your creativity.

Here's how:

1. Create the blank print or eCard project

2. Insert images and text

3. Easy layout for the professional touch

4. Print, email or export?

1. Create the Blank Print or eCard Project

·

To create a blank page, select any image and open the "Print Projects" by

clicking "Print Projects" on the QuickStep Bar.

·

In the panel "Print Project", choose "User Styles", then "New Page" and

click "Continue".

·

In the panel "Create New Page", enter a name and click "OK" to proceed.

·

Using the "Page Setup" panel you define the format and orientation of

your page. Choose from standard formats or enter a custom size.

Hint: You can review and change those settings anytime by choosing "Page Setup" from the "File" menu. So, feel free to experiment.

After clicking "OK", StudioLine opens a blank page in its page editor. The white area matches the page format you had chosen. Images or text that extend outside the white area will be cropped during print, email or export. For print output, keep in mind that most printers will always leave a white margin of about ¼" - ½", as they are unable to print that close to the paper's edge.

2. Insert Images and Text

·

To insert images, click the "StudioLine Explorer – Image Archive" button on

the toolbar and drag the desired images onto your page.

·

In addition to the familiar image tools from the image archive, there are a

few extra tools, e.g., to scale, rotate, add drop-shadows or to add button effects.

·

Colorful borders, lines and rectangles are created by using "Design

Elements". Click the right mouse button on the page background. From the context menu choose "Insert", then "New Design Element". To customize a design element, click it with the right mouse button.  For pixel-perfect sizing, choose "Size" from the context menu; to change the appearance, choose "Design Element Properties" from the context menu.

·

Add text by choosing "New Text Object" from the "Text Processing" menu.

·

The mouse pointer changes to an "I-Beam" insertion mark. Click the mouse

at whatever position you would like to start your text. You can always move it later.

·

You can start typing text or paste it from the Windows clipboard. To copy

from another text editor to the Windows clipboard, highlight any text in the other application, then use its "Edit" menu to copy the selected text (or use the Ctrl+C key combination).  To paste the text into StudioLine, use "Edit" menu or the Ctrl+V key combination.

·

Use image tools such as "Buttonize & Shadow" on text objects to create

attractive banners that remain fully revisable.

Hint: Any titles, captions and other descriptors that you added to your images can be used to dynamically generate content in text objects. Click the right mouse button in a text object and choose "Descriptor Association" from the context menu. Drag the circular association icon from the "Descriptor Association" panel to the image that holds the descriptors you'd like to use in this text object. Click the left mouse button on the text object to open the editor. In the text editor toolbar, click the button "Insert Descriptor". Choose any number of descriptors and StudioLine will insert a place holder (e.g., "") into the text object. Once you deselect the text object by clicking outside of it, you'll be able to see the dynamically generated text.

3. Easy layout for the Professional Touch

All objects on your page can be moved about freely. Just by using your mouse, you can compose beautiful image collages. StudioLine also offers layout tools to accomplish a more structured look:

·

Guidelines

Click the mouse on the horizontal or vertical ruler and drag it onto your page to place a guide. Multiple guides can be arranged in a layout grid that can be saved by choosing "Guides" from the "View" menu.

By default, guides act "magnetically" – which is perfect for accurately placing and scaling your images.

To size images perfectly into your grid, drag the center sizing handles until each side snaps to the appropriate guide.

The center sizing handles will distort the image, as the scaling is not proportional. To restore the proper aspect ratio while retaining the perfect size, open the image tools "Crop" and "Scale (Absolute)". Drag-and-drop the "Copy" button from the scaling tool to the preview pane of the cropping tool.

This copies the aspect ratio that resulted from dragging the center sizing handles to the cropping tool. Now you can click and drag the mouse inside the preview pane of the "Crop" tool to pick the perfect cutout area.

·

Alignment Tools

To align and space objects perfectly without having to create countless guides, select the objects and then click the "Align Objects" button in the toolbar. A drop-down list offers 8 options for alignment or even spacing.

Hint: Any good looking layout can be turned into a template for other project pages. Simply select all images on the page and click the right mouse button on any one of the images. From the context menu, choose "Use as Placeholder". Next, choose "Save As" from "File" menu to create a copy under a new page name. Later, you can open that page and drag replacement images from the StudioLine Explorer onto the placeholders. The new images will automatically be scaled and cropped to fit and inherit any other image tool settings.

4. Print, Email or Export?

Once you're happy with your results, it's time to share it with others. StudioLine offers the following options to create the final output:

·

Print

Click "Print" on the QuickStep bar to open the panel "Standard Print". Here you can preview your page, choose a target printer (if more than one is connected to your computer) and, if necessary, change the printer driver's default settings.

·

Email

If you click "Email" on the QuickStep bar, StudioLine will render your print project into a graphics file for which you control the file format and size. Next, the graphics file is attached to a new email and then passed to your email application.

·

Export

After clicking "Export" on the QuickStep bar, StudioLine renders your print project as a graphics file for which you control the file format. Next, you choose a destination Windows folder on our disk.

For printing, StudioLine creates a high-resolution image of your page to achieve the best possible print quality. For email and export, StudioLine will output the image in screen resolution that is best suited for electronic delivery.

One layout with many uses saves time and effort!
